San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) [to be known as Adventist Health – Bakersfield] is a 255-bed acute-care facility located in downtown Bakersfield, California. The Critical Care Pharmacist Specialist, under the supervision of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy Services, evaluates and recommends appropriate medication therapy to achieve optimal patient outcomes. He/she provides consultative services to medical and nursing staff in intensive care service areas and is responsible for the provision of individualized care, reflecting an understanding of the range of treatment needs of each patient. Additionally, the Critical Care Pharmacist Specialist participates in select committee meetings, performs research or other projects as assigned, and precepts student pharmacists on rotation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy recognized by State of California Board of Pharmacy
Possesses a current valid license to practice as a registered Pharmacist in California (will consider out-of-state candidates)
Board Certification (BCPS or equivalent) or at least 3 years of experience in critical care.
Completed a PGY1 and/or PGY2 Critical care specific residency or at least 3 years of clinical work experience in field of critical care.
Attains a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education credit, acceptable to State of California Board of Pharmacy every two years as required for re-licensure
Evaluation of Aseptic Technique by Observation & Media Fill
Completion of Competencies such as Critical Care Drug Preparation & Age Specific
Works well with others in a team-oriented environment, including support of other co-workers’ job duties in a manner that further advances goals & objectives of organization
