The purpose of this pharmacy informatics position is to lead the development, implementation, prioritization, and efficient use of Pharmacy information systems and technology consistent with the strategic priorities of pharmacy at NYC H+H. The System level Director of Pharmacy Informatics partners with pharmacy leaders and Information Systems stakeholders in the development and execution of standard Pharmacy clinical informatics processes and policies across the enterprise. This role participates in the development of strategy and design for pharmacy information technology and systems across all areas of pharmacy for the organization.
The pharmacy informatics position is responsible for facilitating data driven clinical decisions making as it pertains to medication use outcomes across the enterprise. This may include inter and intra-facility benchmarking reporting. Areas of focus include information technology and solutions related to health system pharmacy EHR and all related technology applications, CPOE processes, acute and ambulatory pharmacy practice, pharmacy interfaces, EHR governance, prioritization, usability, quality, safety, innovation, and education.
This position is responsible for end user satisfaction with NYC H+H Pharmacy EHR and related technologies. Within the Office of the Pharmacy Services, this system level pharmacist partners with multiple stakeholders to identify strategic clinical informatics priorities and delivering effective solutions that enhance patient care through the innovative use of technology. By integrating data analytics, Lean process improvements and fostering clinician input, system level Director of Pharmacy Informatics is jointly involved with the planning, implementation and optimization of Pharmacy clinical information technologies that help clinicians deliver quality patient care while enabling the organization to achieve its operational goals.
1. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital Administration, Health Care Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or an approved related program and seven years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or, 2. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or, 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Bachelors in Pharmacy and
Possession of a valid New York State Pharmacy license; and
A minimum of 7 years of informatics experience or a PharmD with completion of an accredited pharmacy informatics residency program and a minimum of 3 years’ experience and,
Other Certification in one or more of the following EHR modules or eligible for: Epic Pharmacy System (Willow), EpicCare Ambulatory Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Quadramed
Other Epic EHR modules Implementation and optimization Preferred
Master's Business Administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA), Healthcare Informatics (MSHI), Informatics, Information Systems (MSIS), Public Health (MPH), or related IS or healthcare field Preferred Or equivalent education/experience
5+ years Extensive leadership and management experience as typically acquired during 11-14 years in progressively responsible Pharmacy management leadership roles within a complex multi-site matrix managed healthcare environment. Required
3-5 years Extensive experience leveraging/integrating/implementing technology advances with EHR systems to improve services and daily operations as typically acquired during 3-5 years in a similar role. Required
3-5 years Solid expertise in selection, development and implementation of a broad range of clinical care information systems as well as process redesign and quality improvements. Required
Prior experience working with Epic, Cerner or Quadramed solutions Required 3-5 years
Recent experience in clinical practice and a background in Pharmacy and health information technology. Required
Demonstrated experience showcasing excellent customer relationship management and effective leadership of multidisciplinary teams that successfully delivered various clinical information technology solutions. Required
Comprehensive management experience demonstrating leadership across large organizations with the ability to build relationships and establish credibility with clinicians across facilities and medical practices. Required
Experience developing and leading electronic health record (EHR) Pharmacy training and support initiatives. Required
Experience managing workflow requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis Required
