Under the direction of the Vice President/Chief Pharmacy Officer, Enterprise Pharmacy and Chief, Care Support Services, the scope and breadth of responsibility for the System Director, Knowledge Management, of Enterprise Pharmacy is the overall strategy, planning, development, implementation and supervision of Enterprise Pharmacy Knowledge Management. The focus of the System Director will be to oversee and coordinate the knowledge management of the Enterprise Pharmacy programs located throughout Enterprise Pharmacy.
The System Director will work with the System Directors of Acute and Ambulatory Disease Management, Directors of Pharmacy, Assistant Directors, Managers, Regional Coordinators and Residency Directors to ensure the coordination of knowledge management throughout the continuum.
Demonstrates excellence in the supervision, planning and administration of pharmaceutical care services. Possesses and maintains the respect of the staff and functions as a facilitator in a team-based environment. Clearly and effectively articulates in a timely fashion the mission, goals, directions, critical issues, and values of Geisinger to the employees who work within the respective area of responsibility. Ensures compliance to policy and procedures in work conduct. As importantly, the director must effectively communicate the opinions, concerns, and suggestions of the management staff up the chain of command to the Vice President/Chief Pharmacy Officer. Must maintain a comprehensive and long-range system view of Geisinger’s strategic plan, which constantly seeks to identify and take advantage of opportunities to improve the health and wellness of the patients and families served by the system. Effective accomplishment of these goals and objectives will require a close cooperative relationship with physicians and administrators throughout Geisinger and affiliates as well as with partnering schools of higher education. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college and current licensure by Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy required.
Master’s degree or obtained within 2 years of position assignment.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Pharmacist, including at least 5 years in a pharmacy management role required.
