The pharmacy intern position is for employees actively enrolled as a student at an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy. The intern works as an extension of the pharmacist, performing duties related to patient, provider, and customer care under the supervision of a pharmacist. The intern has responsibility with care activities which may include (but not be limited to) sterile product preparation, clinical interactions with patients and the care team, and performance of a majority of pharmacy technical operations.
Coordinate with the pharmacist and pharmacy technician to provide timely, efficient, cost effective, and appropriate pharmaceutical care to the patient while avoiding duplication and waste.
Participate with the clinical pharmacist in multidisciplinary teaching rounds (when applicable) or IDT rounds (when applicable).
Participate in clinical interactions with patients including but not limited to obtaining medication histories and providing patient medication education according to department standards, in conjunction with the pharmacist.
Prepare sterile and non-sterile products for use in patient care, where applicable.
Complete additional projects or activities as assigned by their manager.
