This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more This pharmacist functions as a Pharmacy Supervisor for a specific section of VAPAHCS Pharmacy Service. The Pharmacy Supervisor performs administrative functions independently and is responsible for all dispensing and clinical work performed within the section. During off-tours, the Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for making decisions during urgent/emergency situations which cannot wait until the next business day in order to ensure continued operations and timely patient care. The incumbent is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the ambulatory care clinical program associated with providing independent practitioner services in Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT), Anticoagulation, and Home Based Primary Care (HBPC). This includes a broad spectrum of disease state management under individual pharmacist scopes of practice including, but not limited to: diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, anticoagulation, heart failure, COPD, pain and geriatric deprescribing. Duties include; but are not limited to: Direct supervision of employees; including performance and personnel management Conducting process improvement and/or quality assurance projects to assess program performance based on national, VISN and local performance measures. Developing long range program planning and development for ongoing program relevance and growth, assuring implementation, maintenance and compliance with VHA guidelines and standards of professional practice. This supervisor serves as a subject matter expert within Pharmacy Service and with other facility health care staff and all levels of hospital management regarding ambulatory care clinical services. This includes facilitating collaboration and cooperation with other health care professionals and managers in promoting an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
