The Phoenix VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient) to perform duties under the supervision of the Inpatient Pharmacy Technician supervisor or the Inpatient Pharmacy Program manager in the technician supervisor's absence. The Inpatient Technician perform routine pharmacy functions including the processing, preparing and filling of unit dose medication, sterile parenteral solutions, medication floor stock orders and supply orders. The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinates the initiation of the robotic dispensing process for the hospital's inpatients. Coordinates distribution to the respective patient care unit(s) and routinely fills non-robotic and now dose medications Identifies basic therapeutic problems such as duplicate therapy with drugs in the same class, rate of patient utilization of medication and alerts the pharmacist to the possible need for clinical intervention. Ensures medications filled are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing per state/federal law and as deemed necessary with professional judgement. Practices sterile technique in accordance to USP 797/800/NIOSH/JC/department standards in the preparation of all types of intravenous medication products, including syringes, small and large volume parenteral, total parenteral nutrition solutions, and chemotherapeutic products. Complies with departmental documentation requirements regarding product preparation and chemotherapeutic patient order sequencing and production. Complies with all scheduled and unscheduled sterile technique competency documentation processes, including written examinations and solution broth tests. Reviews compounded inventory to monitor for expired products. Checks medication rooms and scans the general environment for outdated and returned medications and compliance with proper storage procedures. Assists with restocking of medication and IV solutions and supplies and helps to keep working areas within pharmacy clean and neat as assigned. Assists with inventory management by adhering to proper scanning procedures when loading and unloading products from automation. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 06:00am to 2:30pm; Rotating Weekends and Holidays Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
