Your day.

Responsible for the development, provision, and management of antimicrobial stewardship services in collaboration with infectious disease physicians, pharmacy leadership, infection prevention, clinical laboratory staff and other professionals. Responsible for developing and sustaining the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program across the assigned care site such that core elements and regulations are met and activities enhance the quality of medication use as it relates to antimicrobial stewardship.

As an Infectious Disease Specialty Pharmacist, you need to know how to:

• Provides leadership in setting the strategic direction for the care siteâ™s antimicrobial stewardship program in collaboration with infectious disease physicians, pharmacy leadership, infection prevention, clinical laboratory staff and other professionals.


• Develops evidence-based prescribing guidelines, policies and interventional strategies to maximize appropriate antibiotic utilization and improvement in patient outcomes, including but not limited to antibiotic guidelines, clinical pathways, restriction criteria, new laboratory methods and formulary management.


• Performs formulary evaluation for anti-infectives and manages entry or removal of antimicrobials on to hospital formulary.


• Organizes and/or participates in local and system meetings such as ASP, Infection Control and Prevention, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Medication Safety, etc.


• Monitors and reports ongoing anti-infective utilization and identifies metrics showing the impact of the stewardship program on quality, safety, and cost of antimicrobial use for the hospital.


• Monitors and provides feedback of trends in antimicrobial prescribing to clinical teams and governance structures.


• Evaluates medication error reduction pertaining to anti-infectives.


• Monitors safety, effectiveness, and competency of pharmacy managed antibiotic dosing programs.


• Participates in multidisciplinary antimicrobial stewardship rounds, performs prospective audits, and provides clinical advice to enhance the quality of medication use, and documents all interventions.


• Provides collaborative pharmaceutical care with other pharmacists for patients receiving anti-infective therapy, including advisement on therapeutic drug monitoring for antimicrobials.


• Develops educational materials and competencies and provides ongoing education for pharmacists, physicians, and other disciplines. Presents educational topics to the community. Coordinates and supervises pharmacy residency and student infectious disease rotations.

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

• Completion of a PGY1 Residency required, and PGY2 Residency or Fellowship in Infectious Disease


• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or Master of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy


• Current Colorado Pharmacist Licensure or eligibility for reciprocity


• Current BLS certification


• Completion of pharmacy board certification (or ability to obtain board certification within two years from date of hire) in any of the current Board of Pharmacy Specialties

Preferred:

• PGY2 in Infectious Disease


• ID certification, PGY2 residency training, or other
